CleanupSEA started in 2021 after two separate groups scheduled Alki Beach cleanups for the same Saturday morning – one at 7AM and the other at 10AM – not realizing both groups had the same plans. When the later group arrived to a freshly cleaned beach, it became clear that our community needed a better way to create, connect, and join cleanup opportunities for greater impact.

CleanupSEA is a coalition of volunteers building a directory of local cleanup groups and partner organizations so anyone interested in getting involved knows who, what, and where cleanups and other initiatives are happening in West Seattle and beyond. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us and make a positive difference.
